Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview -Revised (ADI-R)

Autism Diagnostic Interview -Revised (ADI-R)

The ADI-R is a comprehensive interview, which provides a thorough assessment of individuals suspected of having autism or other related disorders. The ADI-R has proven highly useful for formal diagnosis as well as treatment and educational planning.

Western Psychological Services (WPS) is no longer offering clinical trainings on this instrument that is highly recommended for use with the ADOS-2 and provides an opportunity for parent to provide detailed input on their child’s current behaviors and early developmental milestones.

The administration of this instrument with the parent(s) by a trained professional ensures that parents have been a part of the evaluative process.

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2)

The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviors.

This revision improves an instrument already viewed as “the gold standard” for observational assessment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related disorders. While Western Psychological Services (WPS) has offered limited clinical trainings around North America since August 2013 the current demand for training is not being fulfilled.

CAREs facilitated training provides school evaluation personnel with training on the instrument and also how to utilize the instrument as part of a more comprehensive evaluation that not only looks at whether the student meets eligibility for autism but how to use information gained as part of the evaluative process to plan for intervention.
